Sticky Notes ("we", "our", "the Extension") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and what choices you have.

The short version: We don't collect, transmit, or share any of your personal data. Everything stays on your device.

2. Data We Collect

We do not collect any personal data. Specifically:

  • No personal information — We don't ask for your name, email, or any identifying details.
  • No browsing history — We don't track which websites you visit.
  • No analytics or telemetry — We don't use Google Analytics, Mixpanel, or any tracking services.
  • No cookies — The Extension does not set any cookies.

3. Data We Store

The only data stored is the notes you create:

  • Note content — The text you write in your sticky notes.
  • Note position & color — Where you placed the note on the page and what color you chose.
  • Site preferences — Per-site defaults like preferred note size or color.

All of this data is stored locally on your device using chrome.storage.local. It never leaves your browser.

4. Data Sharing

We do not share, sell, or transmit your data to anyone. The only way your notes leave your device is if you explicitly use the Export feature, which downloads a JSON file to your computer — entirely under your control.

5. Third-Party Services

The Extension does not integrate with any third-party services, APIs, or external servers. It operates entirely within your browser.

6. Data Retention & Deletion

Your notes persist until you:

  • Delete individual notes using the ✕ button.
  • Uninstall the Extension (which removes all stored data).
  • Clear your browser's local storage.

There is no server-side data to delete — everything is on your device.

7. Permissions

The Extension requests the following browser permissions:

  • storage — To save your notes locally on your device.
  • downloads — For the Export feature, to save a JSON backup file to your computer.
  • contextMenus — To add a right-click menu option for creating notes.

Each permission is used solely for its stated purpose and nothing else.

8. Children's Privacy

The Extension does not knowingly collect data from anyone, including children under 13. No registration or personal information is required to use the Extension.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Since we don't collect contact information, we encourage you to check this page periodically.
